Here are some highlights to look forward to in May:

International Hummus Day: 13 May – SAVE THE DATE
If we could put hummus on everything we would. We are commemorating this social media holiday with a BUY 2 GET 1 FREE special on Thursday 13 May. Buy any two of our hummus products – traditional or caramelized onion with cumin seeds – and get a traditional tub for free.
Our hummus special lasts for one day only and is available until stocks last. For walk in customers and takeaway only.
To market, to market:
We are thrilled to have been invited once again to the Curated Collection market on Wednesday 12 May. The market is hosted at the beautiful homestead venue and celebrates an amazing collection of local treasures, curios and yummy food.
Come and say hi to Khaled, Frido and Sisipho who will be setting up a pop up shop between 10am and 6pm. Come and taste our delicious vegan falafel, breads, spreads and dips. We will also be selling products from our friends at House of Syria. Traditional imported pantry items include Tahini, Rose Water, Olives, Olive Oil, Za’atar, Pomegranate Molasses and the delicious dessert known as Halva.
Speaking of sweet treats, Chef Clara has been cooking up some new ideas in the kitchen and is pleased to introduce a new dessert. Mahalabia is a traditional Middle Eastern desert made with milk, sugar, rice flour, cardamom and flavoured with rose water. Topped with a sprinkling of fresh fruit and rose petals.
The dessert is extremely subtle and great for vegans. Unlike traditional panna cotta, Mahalabia does not contain gelatin which makes it a good choice for our vegan and vegetarian customers. Available in-store and retailing at R40 per tub. Get it through our online shop for R42. Click here.
Don’t forget about our winter warmer soupsation. A limited edition of Spiced Red Lentil soup made with garlic, onions, tomatoes, carrots, lentils and spices, perfect for Iftar. Available in store for R65 or online order and collect for R68. Read all about this yummy new addition here.
With love from Chef Clara and the LB Team!
